The 1st stage of the Russian Minigolf Cup took place in the best Russian minigolf club “Olympiysky-Dagomys” (Sochi) on 01-02.05.2009. Format of the competition was 6 rounds on the MOS-concrete course. 45 sportsmen from 8 Russia regions took part in the competition. Winners of the tournament are:

Men:

1. Sergey Kovylyaev (Moscow) – 158.

2. Kozlov Victor (Moscow region) – 168.

3. Stelmashonok Evgeny (Moscow) – 171.

Women:

1. Chesnova Tatiana (Moscow) – 175.

2. Balasanyan Siranush (Sochi) – 188.

3. Venchikova Natalia (Moscow) – 188.

WMF Youth Officer Pasi Aho (Finland) - the guest of the tournament - came to inspect Sochi course in accordance with the club nomination for the YNC/YWC 2010 and he participated in the tournament unofficially and took second place with the result 168.

In the frame of the event the additional nomination of the Russian Golf Association “Russia Team Cup” was carried out. Format of the final was match team game for the 1st and the 3rd places between mixed teams. The results of the matches are:

For first place: “Dagomys-1” (Sochi) – “Russia-1” – 7.5:0.5.

For third place: “Dagomys-2” (Sochi) - “Krylatskoe” (Moscow) – 7.5:0.5.

Team players of the “Dagomys-1” are P.Aho, S.Kovylyaev, S.Fokin and T.Chesnova.

At closing ceremony Pasi Aho stated that club course looks playable and it is possible to recommend this course for international competition. A traditional gala-dinner with dance-show and fire-show took place after ceremony.
